Dr. Wagnon is highly regarded by his peers

Dr. Wagnon has treated more than one half of the local Lufkin medical community, physicians, families, their wives and children. This includes both major surgery, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, trauma, reconstructive, total joint
orthopaedic surgery, to minor sprains and fractures. His care and expertise extend to physicians and families from all over the state of Texas to other states, Mexico,  Virgin Islands, and Europe.

Dr. Wagnon welcomes and is honored to treat all patients, not just families of physicians, from many places around the world.  Patients have traveled from as far away as India to seek medical care and surgery from Dr. Wagnon.

Education

 

Dr. Wagnon graduated with honors from Austin College in Sherman, Texas in 1979. He completed his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, the oldest and most historical medical school in the state, 1980-1984.

 

In 1984 he moved to El Paso, Texas, part of the Texas Tech Medical Program, completed a Flexible Internship and a year of General Surgery, with specific orthopaedic rotations during those two years.

 

Dr. Wagnon finished his Orthopaedic specialist training at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center – Texas Tech Orthopaedic program in 1990.

 

Since 1990, Dr. Wagnon has continued his Orthopaedic education with annual meetings and classes. Over the past 10 years, he has focused his practice toward minimally invasive shoulder and knee surgery.

 

As a practicing Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Wagnon has the privilege and honor to share his knowledge as a teacher and educator. He is part-time preceptor staff for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and Stephen F. Austin State University. Medical students, physician assistant-certified student and athletic trainers from across the state and Europe have rotated through his teaching practice.

PRO-SPORT – The Quality Sports Clinic in Lufkin

PRO-SPORT is the only program in Lufkin with a designated Sports Clinic, open at 8 a.m. every Monday, year round for all college and high school athletes. Dr. Wagnon and the staff provide outreach and educational programs for coaches, athletes and trainers.

This sports medicine team works with high school, college and professional athletes in a variety of settings and variety of sports.

Dr. Wagnon has been the on-field physician since 1990 for many East Texas high school football teams, and the primary staff physician for several high schools, including: Diboll, Livingston, Leggett, Apple Springs, Corrigan, Groveton, West Sabine, Broaddus, Hudson, Zavalla, Central, Wells, San Augustine, Hemphill, Centerville and Huntington.

Dr. Wagnon also has been the team physician for Angelina College athletic programs for 10 years.
